Dracula's Curse by Maiss-Thro Dracula's Curse by Maiss-Thro
Made for :icongame-art-hq:'s Castlevania tribute.

Long time I've invested in this piece to make it what it is. Also, it's one of my favorite NES games: Castlevania III Dracula's Curse. Original file is 120x180 cms (47,24x70,86 in) at 300dpi, so I might got too ambitious on this particular one trying to get the old gothic church stained glass window look. Nevertheless, I'm way too happy and proud of the result.

Some of the details in this piece are for historical references: last names of Grant and Sypha: Dăneşti and Vernandes; and the Dracul (Dragon) emblem on the Winged Guard. I gave Sypha a skirt as in Akumajo Dorakyura Pachislot game despite the fact she dresses as a man, Alucard his albine look in SOTN with some outfit changes, and Trevor a coat like in Akumajo Dorakyura Pachislot regarding their original look for the sake of tastes. Hope doesn't bother the more purist of the series.

Hope you like it. Comments are much appreciated.

UPDATE: this piece has many small details, so I uploaded a bigger file to appreciate them and an even bigger file to download just for you. Also gave a little weaker signature so it doesn't bother too much.

Castlevania (c) Konami

EDIT: Many have PM'ed me. So... as requested, I added the possibility to download a 3000x4500px version (from 14000x21000px of the original file) with no big watermarks. Enjoy!

The stained glass is just marvelous, it definately fits the gothic theme of Castlevania. I wouldn't mind seeing it in a church xD

I like Trevor's design but that's generally because I really like coats that whoosh and swoosh dramatically in the wind with pretty colours and Ayami Kojima provides lots of that candy to my eyes.

Gorgeous! The characters are more Symphony of the Night style, but still beautiful work. Trevor is a little too soft, also seems a little elf-like to me. I love Sypha's outfit! Also that statue (it seems I keep looking towards her) that is holding herself, she looks cold.

For the statues I took the dirction of making them still alive, stoned cold due to the curse of the Cyclops but still awake. In fact, you can see they are crying and won't turn back to normality since they both are broken. Only Sypha did for she was turned to stone not long ago.
For Trevor I've had the same complain from many people, but oh well. Glad you liked the piece.

This is outstanding work

Grant: I like his grittiness and the rope helping him cling to the wall gives some realism; I always envisioned him with a relatively haggard appearance, especially considering the time period.

Trevor: Not what I expected but I like it; the design is more mystical than brutal. Both Simon and Trevor had a similar design that you really *couldn't tell* in the games what exactly they were wearing, and this is a nice realization (although I've never known what to think about the waist down billowing effect)

Sypha: I've never considered much about her outfit underneath her robes, but I like the design here; it brings out her Vampire hunter qualities a lot more than people would expect. I also like the flame tongue effect as it seems pretty game accurate.

Alucard: Well, SotN seems to be the design everybody accept these days; it would have been interesting if they knew that back when the game was under development in lieu of his "young Dracula" original look. The pose is very dynamic.

Overall: The execution of this as a stained glass mural is very deep; I can't imagine how much time this must have taken. Even the backgrounds represent each character. I've seen a lot of good CVIII pieces before, but this raises the bar, IMHO.

Once again, excellent representation all around :w00t:

For Trevor was a mixture of all and something else. To be honest I like the long coat, but not the fact he doesn't wear an armor.

Thanks for the review =P
